When it comes to moving in for college, there are a few things that every student needs. A television, some nail clippers, a few packs of Ramen, you know, the basic stuff. But man cannot live on Ramen alone. In addition to the basics, there’s a ton of other items that can make your college life just a little bit easier. Here’s a small list of a few gadgets and other stuff hanging around my dorm that fix problems I didn’t even know I had.
Sometimes you’re just not in the mood for bright fluorescent lights. When you’re looking to give your dorm a warmer more homey look, you can’t go wrong with a nice floor lamp. Prices range from 10-20$ and you can get these at Target or Walmart.
Universal Battery Charger
If you’re on your phone 24/7, battery life can be a real issue. Luckily if you’ve got two phone batteries and a universal charger, there’s an easy solution. Put one battery in the charger, then one battery in your phone. Then after the battery in your phone dies, you can swap it with the battery on the charger and quickly go on about your day! No more constantly charging your phone at night, just a quick swap and you’re on to bigger and better things. Prices range from 6-10$ on eBay and Amazon. com
Free access to thousands of great songs on demand. Need I say more? Spotify is a great way to both discover music and listen to songs you already know and love. Plus considering it’s free, it’s a much cheaper option than iTunes. To a music junkie like me, free music is the key…hey that rhymed. As I said, Spotify is free. But if the occasional ads get on your nerves, you can sign up for Spotify Premium for 10 bucks a month.
With you’re new Spotify account, you’ll need the proper speakers to really pump up the jams. Just make sure you don’t get too carried away. Nobody wants to hear Justin Bieber from all the way on the other side of the hall. (well, except Hannah and Tinsley.) Prices start at 15$ online and at places like Best Buy.
Clutter is never a good thing. Especially clutter in your closet. So what’s the solution? Less clothes? HAH yea right. The REAL solution is skinnier hangers. You can get these guys nearly anywhere. And with all that extra room, you can totally go shopping some more while you’re out! Just don’t get crazy. You can find these hangers basically anywhere from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Walmart, or eBay for prices around 10 or 15$ for 25 hangers.
