After a long, long break filled with copious amounts of Doctor Who and Firefly, it’s safe to say I’ve been longing for some social interaction. It’s the little things like joking with my suite mates and playing Halo with my boys that I missed more than anything. It’s been a week since I’ve been back and let me tell you, I can already tell this is going to be a great semester. I love all my classes so far, track practice isn’t at six in the morning anymore (hallelujah), and to top that my best friend from high school just transfered here from Mizzou. Does it get any better than that? It’s times like these that make a man want to dance. Just the thought of it all gives me happy feet!
Needless to say this semester is going to be better than the last. That’s a good thing too, considering I was literally going insane a month ago…you think I’m joking but I’m not. Now I understand everyone has their bad days, but If you’re going through a couple of bad weeks like me last semester I’ve got two simple pointers.
1. There’s no need to isolate yourself. Friends and family will always help when you need them, just ask.
2. Take a long hard look at yourself and what you’ve already gone through. After relishing in your success over past obstacles, odds are you’ll start to realize that things ALWAYS get better. There is nothing you can’t handle.
I hope that everyone is having a great start to their semester! Cheers to the new year! Let’s all dance our way to better days in 2013.
