Two Months In…

October 21, 2012 in Uncategorized

The past two months of my life have been an obscure haze, but in a great way!

I remember the night before I moved into Sunderland, my mind was completely immersed in thoughts of what the next portion of my life was going to entail. I am certainly not going to get imensely deep on my cutsie little blog (that’s what the “ask Hannah” tab is for), but I will say that I was so unsure of everything.

At that point I didn’t even care what my classes would be like, what I was majoring in, or any of that stuff (even though that’s the main focus of college, ha).

The biggest question on my mind was whether or not I would make friends. Let me just go ahead and try to paint a mental picture of how hard I’m laughing at that former thought right now. Actually, I’m not laughing, I’m just blowing more air out of my nostrils than usual. Still a similar feeling, though.

Why is it so humorous, you ask? Because Drury makes sure that there are ten million ways to become acquainted with the people you will be spending the next chunk of your life with. This university is the KING of forcing awkward icebreakers upon all of the incoming students. But they work.

Feast your eyes on this uncomfortably uncouth photo of my LLC on the first day we met….

What is that?

First off, we all have our eyes closed. Us girls haven’t QUITE got the hang of the “College Girl Squat” pose yet. It’s just a heinous photo all around.

My reason for all of this reminsicing is to make it evident that one has to really try to not make friends here.

Yes, it will be a little uncomfortable at first, but as time goes on, these people are your second family. *cue sappy music

But really!

I could go on and on just about the people I live with, and then there’s the people I’ve met in classes, and then there’s the people I’ve met from work, and THEN there’s the people I’ve met just from tripping out of the elevator. I’ve even made a few friends of the squirrel variety. The opportunities are endless. And I’m still makin’ more!

This blog will always be about the truth. I can assure you that. So trust me, whether you like it or not, you’ll have tons of friends.

p.s. a blog solely about the happenings in Sundy is on the way!
