Hey, again–it’s the first day back: Spring semester 2013

January 22, 2013 in Kaitlyn's Posts

Here’s a preview of what I’ll be digging into this semester.

Around Drury today, students are discovering what is expected of them in each class, participating in activities which include answering questions about themselves and memorizing names, and receiving their first homework assignment of the year. Yes, it’s the first day of the spring semester, and I’m glad to be back–because sleeping ’til noon during break gets old after awhile.

This should be an interesting semester for me as I take on five classes with a variety of expectations. I will be taking photojournalism (yay, photos), multimedia production (making videos), editing and publishing (more night classes), studies in 19th-20th century literature (now known to me as my class on mysteries), and global futures (which allowed me to purchase four books on neoliberalism). Expect me to mention some of these classes in future blog posts; I think it’ll be a fun but mildly challenging semester.

First day of school blogging aside, you should also expect to hear from me about things outside of schoolwork and future plans I have been thinking about. I’m going to try and not completely surround myself in just academic work this semester.

Lastly, I’ve failed to mention this last semester, but keep in mind that I (and all of the other bloggers) take questions. So if you want to ask me about anything Drury related or just college related, then just shoot me a question.

And for current students who are reading this…hold on to that syllabus that you just got and don’t lose it. Seriously, I see people do this all the time. Oh, and have a good first day back on campus!
