My Favorite Drury Memory

November 5, 2012 in Personal by admin

My favorite memory I have living here at Drury surprisingly started on sort of a bad note. I started the day by sleeping through my first and only class that morning. Luckily for me, I was allowed a certain number of excused absences and this one was one of them. So I woke up late, but not to my alarm, but instead the constant buzzing of my phone.

I unlocked it and started reading through my messages wondering what all of the fuss was about. Every message said the same thing: my favorite band, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin was going to play a free concert for Founders Day here at Drury and they were here…right now…in the FSC circle…literally RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY DORM. I got dressed and ready in a flash and ran downstairs and over to the circle to see band setting up for their show.

There was no one else around and I thought this would be my chance to actually get to talk to the members of my favorite band. So I walked towards them, literally shaking with nerves and excitement and started up a conversation with them. What still impresses me about them is that instead of blowing me off and continuing to prepare for their show, they all were really friendly and immediately started to strike up a conversation with me.

We all stood around and talked for a couple minutes and we talked about their new album and I told them how much I was looking forward to the show. I was even able to get a picture with them!

Needless to say, the show was incredible and I always think back to that day whenever I’m listening to SSLYBY on my iPod and I remember getting to know the guys that make the music I love.
You can actually read what some of the other bloggers have to say about SSLYBY on their own blogs! Click here for some of Dallas’ favorite songs and here for Molly’s Founder’s Day experience.
